The Weight of
Blood Cancer

Cancer. One of the world’s worst evils. It is a malignant plague that takes so much and leaves very little in its wake. And thus it is all that much more miraculous when people beat it.
There are many faces of cancer, and one that is lesser mentioned is cancer of the blood. A sickness attacking the very thing channeling life through your body.
I connected with Kat, a fellow photographic artist, about her experience suffering and subsequently going into remission from Lymphoma. To her it felt as though she was stuck, fading into a void and watching life and people pass by. Like she, herself, was some contagion meant to be locked behind a pane separating her from reality. I resonated with this, and we created art about the feeling of being a ghost in one’s own life.
Cancer may be a dark plight, but as medicine advances and human resilience increases, there is hope that it will not claim as many lives.
